Where was God on 9/11/01?
September 11, 2008

At every turn and with
nearly all I contact I have made no secret about being a Christian!
I guess that would explain the message I received over this past weekend
that asked me the question, “Where was God on 9/11/2001?"
It's a good question and
I have to believe that it was also asked on December 7, 1941 when Pearl
Harbor was bombed.
The relatives of the passengers
likewise asked it following the crash of Pan Am Flight 103 at Lockerbie,
Scotland on December 28, 1988.
Then on December 26, 2004,
one of the largest natural disasters in our recent history was the tsunami
caused by an earthquake in the Indian Ocean that left 186,983 dead and
42,883 missing - that probably provoked the question as well!
Each of us likely can
recall a personal tragedy or catastrophe that although it did not impact
society, it was large enough to cause us to question the very existence
of God.
In our heart-crushing
moments the notion that there exists a God that loves us and cares for
us is often too much to accept. If He truly loves us, how could He
let this happen? If He is so powerful then why didn't He stop it?
If He is all knowing, then how can He let this disaster after this cataclysm
occur?
I believe that He indeed
is real and that He is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omni benevolent.
I would suggest that if you could ask Him, "Where were you on 9-11?
His answer would most likely be, "I was right where I always am, in the
same place where I was on the day my Son died on the cross!"
